Mentoring
Mentoring is making a difference one child at a time. You can help a child in our community by simply giving a little of your time to them or if your child needs some extra adult support, a mentor is for them.
Community Mentoring
The main goal of Pro Kinship Mentors is to help a young person:
Who has loss of a parent for one reason or another
Improve self-esteem
Increase socialization skills
The most important goal for us is to match the youth with an adult in an effort to develop a relationship of caring, acceptance and trust. The adult is to be a friend to the child and in that framework to encourage the child to develop into the best person he/she can become. The adult volunteer will spend time doing whatever interests both the adult and youth. It is hoped that good citizenship, fair play, honesty, good self-esteem, the ability to communicate acceptably, and growth as an individual will be fostered by this relationship.
Academic Mentoring
The main purpose of Academic Mentoring is to seek the means to improve the academic achievement, self-esteem, and social skills of at-risk elementary students by providing them with an academic mentor. We have targeted students who are identified by their teachers or social workers as needing one-on-one help to succeed. This is a collaboration of community partners lead by Pro Kinship for Kids which has developed an individualized approach to after-school tutoring and mentoring.
Academic Mentoring is helping students to be successful in their schoolwork and friendships which will help them to have a better quality of life and be better contributing members of society as they feel better about themselves, increase their self-esteem, and are more confident in their skills to succeed.
Volunteer
Pro Kinship for Kids is always looking for adult volunteers to work with youth in Brown County. Our volunteers are ordinary people doing ordinary things for extraordinary results in the lives of young people. We need you!!!
